A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress APC in Ekiti State, Arc. Deji Adetuberu, has described as pathetic, worrisome and uncouth, the gruesome murder of late Com. Bunmi Ojo, a former personal Assistant to former governor of the state, Engr. Segun Oni.
Adetuberu, a House of Representatives aspirant, called on security agencies to work hard at fishing out the killers of the APC leader.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti, the APC chieftain charged people of the state to remain calm and be law-abiding, touching and worrisome though the murder was, to allow the security agencies to do their job at getting into the roots of the rationale behind the murder of the late Ojo and other continued killings in the state in recent times.
Adetuberu said: "The killing of such promising, vibrant and articulated young man, by yet-to-be-identified men of underworld at this period in Ekiti State was least expected and unfortunate".
According to the statement, Adetuberu made the remark in his condolence message to Engr. Oni, the family of late Bunmi Ojo, APC members and the entire Ekiti people.
The message reads in part: "The late Bunmi Ojo who was my personal friend until his untimely demise was unassuming, straight-forward, forthright, brilliant, bold and ever-ready to assist all and sundry.
"The news of his murder was not only a great blow to me personally, but also a loss of immeasurable proportion to Ekiti APC and Ekiti people because of his determination to assist every young and old members of Ekiti origin without political sentiment or affiliation.
"The late Ojo was an exceptional emerging leader worthy of emulation in all facets of human endeavour and his record at assisting Ekiti young men and women to secure gainful employment through his last office as a federal commissioner in the Federal Character Commission was a second to none in the history of Ekiti State and Nigeria in general.
"The vacuum created by the untimely death of the APC stalwart will be difficult to fill at both the short and long run, I pray God to give the family and Ekiti people the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss," the statement read.
Adetuberu is eyeing the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I seat comprising Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun councils in the National Assembly.
