He said this while declaring his intention to run for the number one seat in the State at the All Progressive Congress (APC) secretariat, Abeokuta amidst pump and pageantry with the leadership of the party, led by the State Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi receiving him into a warm embrace. BOT as he is fondly called by his admirers said he is interested in the governorship of the state because he knew the state perfectly having toured the nooks and crannies, adding that he was familiar with the yearnings and aspirations of her people. Otegbeye who expressed gratitude to the incumbent Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for zoning the Governorship to Yewa and for his near- impossible achievements in the state, opined that it was only apposite to keep the developmental strides apace.
He declared he was ready and prepared to take over the mantle of leadership of the state because he would deliver the goods and continue the rebuilding process the present government has begun and place Ogun state on an enviable position among states in the Nigerian nation. Barrister Olubiyi Oladipupo Otegbeye who has been described as one of the most qualified candidates for the position being a prodigious scion of Late Festus Oladunjoye Otegbeye of Ilaro, and Oliworo Quarters, Ijebu Ode and raced in the heart of Abeokuta, stated he was desirous of giving his all to his mission of governing the state, adding that under his watch, the people of the state was assured of developmental initiatives that would completely transform the state. Barrister Oladipupo Otegbeye popularly called BOT began his education at Sanni Luba School, Ijebu Ode. He proceeded to Christ Church School, Porogun Alapo, Ijebu Ode. Between 1974 and1979 he attended Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro, Ogun State and proce to CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos State for the High School Certificate (HSC) in 1984, and at the age of 20 he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Insurance at the University of Lagos. He followed up with a Master's Degree (MBA) in Financial Management and Accountancy between 1985 and 1987. He went further to study Law and graduated with LLB in Law at Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos in 2001. He was admitted into the Nigerian Law School and called to the Bar in 2003 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Biyi qualified as Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London (ACII) in 1988 Otegbeye, who declared he had all required to govern state said he believed in party supremacy and also the quality leadership of the party said he was ready to work with any other candidates of the party to ensure Yewa took advantage of the zoning arrangements that has giving them the opportunity to produce the next governor of the gateway state in Nigeria. Speaking at the event, state Party Chairman, Odebiyi stated that he was impressed by Otegbeye's desire to contest for the governorship of the state. He revealed he had known that Ogun West has cerebral people, political buffs as well as individuals who have the knack to govern the state. The party Chairman said it was important to work together and assiduously to produce a successor for Senator Ibikunle Amosun in order to continue the rebuilding efforts.
He advised that as much as the party leadership was resolute on the zoning arrangements envisioned by the incumbent Governor of the state based on his believe in equity, the people of Yewa should ensure they romance members from other zone with the view to win their support.
