There was a mild drama at an Ogun State magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta following an attempt by a convicted lesbian, Bolaji Adeleke to escape after she had been sentenced to a four- year imprisonment.
It was gathered that Bolaji who was found guilty of a two count charge including homosexual and bisexual offense was charged with three other persons, Olorode Victoria Adepeju, Omisore Olayemi Mary and one deceased, Eniola Adeola, who were at the time of arraignment was at large and was convicted based on eye witness and electronic evidences, telephone, email and chats between her and her acomplices dating back years ago.
On the pronouncement of the sentence, it was alleged that Bolaji decided to bolt away from the court premises.
This caused a lot of pandemonium around the court premises with the law enforcement agencies and court officials watching in disbelief.
But her lawyer had stated the she would do everything within her capacity to appeal against the ruling.
It would be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 signed a bill to criminalise same sex relationships into law in spite of pressure from western governments to respect gay and lesbian rights.
The bill which contains penalties of up to 14 years imprisonment and bans same sex amorous relationship and membership gay rights groups was passed by the national Assembly
