An expelled senator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Prince Kashamu Buruji has been accused of colluding with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a protest against the PDP in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Thursday 2nd August 2018.

According to a statement credited to the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Hon. (Dr) Sikirullahi Ogundele and signed by the state party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Malik Ibitoye, the protest is a product of a “former and inconsequential member of the PDP, who is hell bent on destroying the state chapter of the party.”
Ibitoye stressed in the statement, which was released to the media, that the state chapter of the PDP had no hand in the protest.
Ogundele was quoted to have said that Buruji is colluding with a former senatorial candidate of the APC in Ogun East in the 2015 General Elections who is now a chieftain of the party for the protest.
He disclosed that the disgraced Senator Buruji has hired thugs and miscreants from the three senatorial districts in the state for the protest which is meant to deceive the National Executive Committee of the party about his seeming popularity.
While disassociating the state chapter of the PDP from the protest, Ogundele was quoted to have said that the APC chieftain gave a substantial amount of money to Buruji to mobilise the protesters.
The statement reads in part, “We have it on good authority that the APC chieftain took the Senator Buruji to Aso Rock where he was given some millions of naira to execute the devilish protest. They have hired several buses for the protest and the protesters have been mobilised with N2,000 each for the job..
“We want to use this medium to inform the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP and members of the public that we have no hand in the protest and that it is the handiwork of a disgraced former member of our party, who has been expelled by the NEC of our party, Senator Kashamu Buruji, while he is getting the financial and logistic support from the APC.
“Nobody should be deceived, the rally is purely an APC affair that is being coloured as a protest by members of the PDP.
“This is a planned work of an enemy of progress that is making efforts to disturb the peace the party is enjoying after his inglorious exit.”
Ogundele said further in the statement that the Ogun State chapter of the PDP is warming up for 2019 to take over the governance of the state through election and work with other states chapters of the party to reclaim the central government for the PDP.
He advised lawful members of the public to go about their normal businesses and disregard those he said were hell bent on causing trouble where there is none.
“Kasahmu Buruji is a failure, he is now party- less after his expulsion from our great party. He can no longer have his way as he has nothing good to offer our party.
“This is not the kind of person we need now that our party is gaining momentum and important and eminent personalities are cross carpeting to the party. We will not allow this undesirable element disturb our peace again”. Ibitoye quoted Ogundele to have said in the statement.
It will be recalled that the NEC of the PDP recently announced the expulsion of Prince Kashamu Buruji alongside his Omo Ilu State Chairman, who claims to be Ogun PDP Chairman, Engr. Bayo Dayo, Semiu Sodipo and one Prince Segun Seriki
