The residents argued that the roads are in terrible shape, impassable, and have received little or no attention from the government after several complaints to the authorities.
Giving a detailed analysis of the roads, the residents noted that the community roads in Ikorodu currently in bad shape includes the Ikorodu-Sasamu expressway, Isawo-Agric road, Offin-Oreta road, Itamaga-Ijede road, Agura- Gberigbe road, Ojubode junction, Elepe road, Ginti road and Igbe road.
Others include the Ikorodu-Igbogbo road, Idiroko-Gbaga road, Itoikin road, Ijede road, Itunpate street, Itunmaja-Sabo road, Gbodu junction, Lucky fibre road, Olu-Odo road, among several others.
Speaking on the development, a resident, Oloyede Aladepupo said; “Palliatives are doable but the Igbogbo road is deteriorating on a daily basis. Something must be done immediately there is a relief from this seemingly perennial rainfall.”
Corroborating Oloyede, another resident, Adebola Junaid said; “The Offin-Oreta road has been neglected for more than a decade now.
Are they really neglecting Ikorodu for a selfish reason or a justifiable reason?
We need to check our so called leaders and representatives as well.”
Another resident, Saliu Oludotun while commenting on the Oreta road said “most of us that are driving cars on the road are finding it very difficult to maintain our vehicles due to the deplorable situation of the road.”
Meanwhile, Alao Adebisi said; “We youths need to start fighting for our future because the government is not ready to do anything for us. I wonder what the traditional rulers of Ikorodu are doing. They only thing they know so well is Oro festival.”
The residents urged the government to find a permanent solution to the dilapidated roads and the issue of flooding in the community saying the negligence is putting their lives at risk.
