Woman On The Run Over Ritual  Attempt And Female Circumscion

A middle aged woman, Adejimi Folashade , has fled to an unknown destination
over her refusal to allow them perform the traditional ritual on her
and her two Children, Samuel Adejimi and Oluwatoyin Akeem,  a
practice they claim was culturally and traditionally acceptable in
their family.

It was gathered that Adejimi Folashade and her immediate family are
currently on the run for the safety of their lives because her family community in Abeokuta have threatened to wipe out her family
should she stop them from performing the traditional rites which has
since exceeded the stipulated time.

It was gathered that the father of her first son, Adewumi Opeyemi sent hoodlums to
her family house at 32, Bode-Olude road, along Elega Estate, over her
refusal to allow them perform what they termed as the first born
ritual on Samuel Adejimi.

They threatened to deal with her spiritually because it’s a taboo
already as she had refused to present Samuel Adejimi for Family rituals
and also submit herself to undergo some traditional cleasing, a
practice that may cause her early death..

According to a source, her family were asking her to release her three year old daughter
Oluwatoyin for female circumcision.

"She had refused to heed their
warnings because the practice is against her religious beliefs but they
keep mounting pressure on her to succumb to their will”,  the source said.

"She was afraid of reporting the matter to the police because
she was scared of being harmed by the her family community".

Adejimi’s neighbors who witnessed the attack said the hoodlums who
stormed the house at about 5 am were armed with machetes and had
charms on their bodies.
