A Forty Eight year old mechanic at Ologuneru area of Ibadan in Oyo state simply called Dayo is currently in a dilemma over the death of his wife who died before the settlement of her bride price to her family in Kogi state.
The family insisted that Dayo must pay the bride price on his wife who had five children for him while the husband is yet to raise N48,000 to claim her corpse at the morgue of Wesley College Hospital Ilesa in Osun state.
He was given a week ultimatum to settle the bride price and do the formalities connected with marriage before he could bury his dead wife failure of which he would incur the wrath of their local god.
The deceased wife,Serifat,family source hinted, was impregnated at her tender age by her husband .The marriage has been blessed with five children after which the husband started misbehaving.
It was alleged that the husband abandoned his wife and left home to another lady who is a food seller at Eleyele Ibadan and the intervention of his elder brothers did not yield any fruit.
Our source said that the relation of the husband asked the wife to relocate to Aramoko in Ekiti with her children adding that a two bed room flat had been rented for her and her children
The deceased wife in frustration , then hired a private cab from Ibadan to take her to the relation of her husband in Ekiti state during which the cab was involved in an accident near Ile Ife in Osun state.
Our source further hinted that the wife died on the spot of the accident while nothing happened to all the children as well as the driver.
The corpse of the woman was on Tuesday deposited at Wesley Hospital Ilesa where the children and the driver were treated,it was gathered.
A nurse from the hospital phoned the husband who was with the new lady to inform him on the tragic incident to his family.
He rushed to his abandoned house and began frantic steps to raise funds to bail himself out from the problems that have happened to him ,a sympsthiser who pleaded anonymity told our reporter in Ibadan on Wednesday.
"I have gone to the Chairman of our Cooperative Society for whatever he can do to help this man.For goodness sake,We have advised him against the danger in his adulterous life.You can imagine what attracted him to a divorcee with three children when he himself has five children?"he stated.
Dayo has not got out of his confusion as of the time of filing this report and his inlaw in Kogi state insisted that he must do the necessary marriage formalities before he could bury his wife.
