Members of the public in Oyo State particularly in Ibadan have cried to the appropriate authorities on the upsurge of fraudsters using sophisticated and fetish means to deprive innocent people of their money.
Findings revealed that their criminal activities are more noticeable in the metropolis where they hire Micra Taxi cabs for their exploits.
Some youths who fell victims of their activities disclosed that they were hypnotized by the criminals who often warn them and instil fear of death on them if they dare report them to either their parents or security agents
One of the victims of the miscreants Ester(surname Withheld) was deprived of N18,000 during the week on her way to attend a church programme.
The teenager who joined a Micra taxi cab to Iwo road from Ikolaba road said that the driver waited on the road to pick two other passengers who are suspected to be members of the syndicate.
"Immediately they entered the cab I became unconscious and in the process ,they took the money on me.One of them tapped me after passing where I told them that I would stop.One of them removed a charm put by my side and warned me never to report my encounter to anybody.
He gave me a first Bank Account number 3095364981 and directed me to pay into the account in additional N25,000 there lest I die before a fortnight,the victim said.
The girl added that She did not disclose the incident to her parent until after three days adding that She was later followed to Akobo police station where theyou matter was reported.
Our Correspondent learnt at Akobo police station on Thursday that the report has been lodged and the case was under investigation.
The Divisional Police Officer at Akobo Ibadan who spoke with our man from the Clinic where She was assured that the fraudsters would be apprehended.
Findings revealed that Micra taxi cabs are now being used in the city by the miscreants as two other students of the University of Ibadan fell victim of the same mode of operation early in the week.
