Governor Elect Renews Pledge For Oyo People

The Governor Elect for Oyo State,Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and his Deputy,EngineerAdewumi Adeniran were the centre of attraction on Wednesday in Ibadan where they received their certificates of returns from the Independent National Electoral Commission.


Apart from the Governor Elect and his Deputy,prospective members of the next Assembly were also given their certificates of returns among pomp and ceremonies.

Engineer Makinde in his brief remark ,said that he was grateful to God and to the good people of Oyo state who voted for him massively because of the confidence they have in him.

,"Definitely,this is  the beginning of a new era in this state.I appeal for the cooperation of you all in taking our state to a greater height.I will not betray the confidence which you have in me,he reiterated.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mutiu Agboke advised the new Governor,his Deputy  and the Lawmakers in waiting to live to the bidding of those who voted them into power.

He reminded them that since their tenure ends after four years,whoever fail to do well to their constituents should forget coming back to power.

"Always have it firmly in your mind that 2023 is around the corner.Elections are meant to renew the mandate given to you or to withdraw it by not voting for you.The choice is yours"he counselled.

The REC said that he was grateful  unto God that with the cooperation of the good people of the state and the resilience of all stakeholders,there was no inconclusive elections in the state as being experienced in other states of the federation.

Barrister Agboke assured that INEC would continue to improve on its electoral process in order to further consolidate our democracy.


He said that no stone would be left unturned in their journey to being the flagship among the election management bodies in Africa.

Agboke disclosed that there were 17 petitions before the State Governorship and State House of Assembly Tribunal which would begin sittings soon.

He further stated that workshops retreat and  seminars would soon begin to review the last elections for a better future performance.
