Rampaging Fulani herdsmen on Saturday invaded Bolon community in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State and killed 13 persons.
At the dawn invasion, two aged couple, their two granddaughters, and 11 others were brutally murdered.
The attackers believed to be Fulani militia also attacked Bolki and Bujum towns of Demsa and Numan local governments.
Similarly, no fewer than eleven persons were feared dead in an attack by unknown gunmen on the village of a member of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Agwaza Atedze in Benue state.
The attack which took place at Ngibo, Ikyurav 1 Council ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state between 3am and 4am on Saturday, may have been carried out by herdsmen according to reports emerging from the area.
Four of the persons were shot dead in Ngibo, while the remaining seven were killed at Tse Aye community; all in Ikyurav 1 council ward of the LGA.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the attack.
In Adamawa, the armed killers were said to have descended on Bolon community at around 2am, shooting sporadically and burning down over one hundred houses and sending the residents on frenzy scamper for their lives.
Speaking to newsmen the village head of Bolon, Robinson Filgona said, “Over one hundred household in my community are now homeless because their houses have been burnt down.”
His words, “Our foods have also been burnt to ashes just like that, if you go round town, you will see several of our houses are still on fire.
“At about 10 pm, some Fulani militants descended on our community heavily armed and started shooting at everyone they see.
“We quickly mobilised to defend our lives and property but all we have are just our local bows and arrows, so they overpowered us. In fact, it is because of the resistance we mounted that you still see some few houses standing.
“My people need help, their food have been burnt and there is nothing to fall back to.”
The member elect, Demsa local government, Kate Mamuno, who visited the community, lamented the mayhem, saying the security operatives in the state have to improve on their response time.
A survivor of the attack, Alex James, narrating his ordeal said, “I have been physically challenged after I had stroke attack, so I could not run, so this place where you met me is where I was seated when the attack started and ended.
“At about 2am, I started hearing gunshots all over the town and it kept coming closer, there was nothing I could do than to run to the hills.
“About four of them came some few meters closer to my house but as God would have it, I heard other attackers calling them in Fulfulde to leave, that was how they left and I survived.”
There were speculations last night that the Benue attack may have been carried out by a militia group in the area.
There were indications that the gunmen may have planned the attack with the intention of kidnapping the CCT, member, Agwaza Atedze and that it was following the unsuccessful attempt that the gunmen wrecked havoc on the community.
According to our findings, Atedze had arrived his farm on Friday, with the intention of spending the weekend in Ngibo.
It was gathered that a warning instinct had propelled him to leave same day, otherwise he would have been on the farm at the time the incident took place.
It was further learnt that the attackers had also rustled about twenty eight cows belonging to Atedze at his farm at Ngibo.
