The Provost of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Dr Adeola Kiadese has debunked the rumors making round by the aclaimed leader of Coalition of TASCE Staff (COTAS), Mr. Daniel Aborisade, that the College Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) was use to finance festive gifts to Chief Imams, Pastors and others government functionaries as published by a newspaper on the 17th of April, 2019.
He described the allegations as frivolous and attack on his personality.
Speaking with Journalists recently on the issue at Omu Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Kiadese said the the Coalition of TASCE Staff (COTAS) is a body not recognised by law, adding that he has never mismanaged the IGR of the College as the ideas of gifts to some personalities and government functionaries at the end of year was a precedent he met on ground on his assumption as the College Provost.
The provost said the allegation of N150, 000 to buy rams for each of the chief imams and pastors in Ogun State, drawing of N3 million rebate on monthly basis by Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, and the allegations against members of Ogun State House of Assembly was to malign his character and other notable citizens of Ogun State mentioned in the report.
He said rather, the College under his supervision, has been upgraded with the IGR of the college to international standard, adding that with less than 2,000 students’ enrolment and N38, 000 as school fees the College can never generate the sum of N400 million in 2 years as against the newspaper publications that N400 million IGR was spent on gift items or mismanaged.
Kiadese said the present development of the College under his watch over two years has witnessed a great turnaround with the support of the IGR of the College, such as Opening and maintenance of the College Main Access Road, Movement of the Administrative Arm of the College to the Permanent Site within four months, allocation, beautification and equipping of staff offices, renovation, painting and artistic designs of some buildings and College Gate House, sponsorship of both teaching and non-teaching staff for training and payment of salaries arrears to staff.
Others include facilitating the Accreditation Exercise of the College in 2018, full accreditation status for all the 27 courses offered by the College, secured Degree Programmes in affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye which took off in 2018 after the National Universities Commission Resource Assessment Visit to the College.
The Provost said he facilitated the donation of internet facilities, e-pads to the College by the National Communications Commission, development of a new website and mobile application to make the College visible to the outside world, connection of electricity of Main Campus to the National Grid, Installation of air-conditioners in staff offices and that of Heads of Departments, construction and equipping of School of Science Complex through TETFund intervention to mention but a few.
Speaking with the College Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Fisayo Olajide, She said the College has a documentary evidence to back some of the achievements for the past two years, adding that the upgrading of the result computation software for use in the Schools/Departments as well as facilitating the academic collaboration and linkage between the College and University of Education, Winneba, Ghana in the area of joint research, conferences, students and staff exchange are other projects which were funded with IGR of the College.
Olajide said the College has independent Audit Department which serves as check and balances to the Management, hence, all financial expenditures were duly processed and ratified in accordance with extant financial rules and regulations.
