In a renewed effort to reduce crime and checkmate the activities of criminal elements in Oyo,Osun and Ondo States where kidnappers are surreptitiously making inroads,the Zonal Command has put in a new outfit.
Named "PuffAdder",AIG Leye Oyebade called for the cooperation of all and sundry in the Zone to make the initiative a success.
"It is our conviction that with the new security outfit added with the existing ones,security challenges in the three states will be tackled adequately,Oyebade assured.
Speaking in Osogbo the state capital on Thursday,the the AIG said "this outfit is going to be an assemblage of over 500 highly disciplined and dedicated professionals drawn from different departments and units of the Command.
Oyebade explained that it has the mandate to carry out aggressive onslaught against criminals and fight against heinous crimes to the doorsteps of die hard criminals in the three states.
The AIG assured the residents of the states that the officers in the outfit would carry out the mandate with integrity and high sense of responsibility
He added that by so doing,"the expected but elusive peoples confidence in the police will be restored"
Oyebade demanded the cooperation of the public by way of providing useful ,credible and timely information to the outfit to enable it succeed in its mandate".
