Residents of Oyo state are not sleeping with their two eyes closed as threats to overtake motor parks on May 29,2019 heighten by a former leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW).
But the Police have assured that such threats were unfounded and and any criminals would be rounded up and dealt with according to law.
While the incumbent leadership underof NURTW under Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe declared that it remains in power till October this year when another union election would hold , another group led by Alhaji Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi alias Auxiliary was of the view that the current leadership worked for the APC government which lost to the Peoples Democratic
.Party (PDP).
Auxiliary Group therefore erroneously believed that the incumbent NURTW leadership should bow out with the Governor Abiola Ajimobi's administration which completes its tenure on May 28.
,The Alhaj Ejiogbe led NURTW had placed good will messages on the electronic media expressing solidarity with the incoming government of Engineer Seyi Makinde.
It urged the public to cooperate with the new PDP government which according to it ,would sustain the existing peace in the state.
The Ejiogbe led NURTW reminded the incoming government that the factional group under Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi alias Auxiliary has ceased to be members of NURTW after his trial by an Ibadan High Court.
He argued that he and his Group have dragged the name of the union into disrepute and consequently suspended.
The Ejiogbe leadership added that the Union now has a Constitution "and the tenure of the present executive ends in October after which a new executive will be put in place through an election"
He denied the allegation that there was a plan his Group to cause mayhen on May 29 during the swearing in of Engineer Seyi Makinde
as the Governor.
However,the Auxiliary Group which is alleged to be nursing the ambition of taking over government of NURTW on May 29 ,said that it was the incumbent Ejiogbe Chairman that was plotting to cause crisis.
Meanwhile,both the State Police Command and the Zone 11 under which Oyo Command is have been put on red alert to nip any violence in the bud before ,during and after the swearing in ceremony.
Speaking during a chat with our Correspondent,Mr.Adeleye Oyebade,the Assistant Inspector General of Police for the Zone assured that all necessary logistics have been put on ground to ensure that there would be no threat to lives and property under his zone.
He warned miscreants and trouble makers to keep away from causing upheavals adding that criminals would be arrested,detained and be made to face the full weight of law.
