A female hostel of the University of Ibadan was in the early hours of Friday invaded by a 10 man robbery gang who assaulted many female students and robbed them of money and telephone sets
An eye witness told our correspondent that a girl who was seriously stabbed has been treated at the University Clinic .
Sources said that the hoodlums divided themselves into groups with those heavily armed stationed at the gate of the Hall and others went in to force their victims to surrender their money and phone sets or be shot
Few of the students who did notcooperate" received the beatings of their lives while a stubborn one was stabbed, reports said
The hoodlums who stormed the ivory tower between ,1.30am operated successfully before the University security men came.of the female students of Obafemi Awolowo Hall who preferred. anonymity said that the robbers did not get to her own block.
She said that her fear was the threat of the hoodlums to come back pleading with the authorities to take pro active steps.
The Director of Communication of the University,Mr.Olatunji Oladejo while confirming the robbery incident said that Police from Sango and Bodija came to complement the efforts of the security men on the campus.
The Commissioner of Police,Mr.Sina Olukolu who also confirmed the story said that when there was a report of threat to the security of the place,the police and other security rushed there.
Before the Police got there,they had fled into the bush.The case is being investigated"Olukolu added
