The management of the Ogun state College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH) in Ilese - Ijebu on Tuesday said the allegation of embezzlement of the institution funds by the Provost and some top management of the college are far from the truth, saying that the allegation is politically motivated.
Speaking to Newsmen at the Institution's campus on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the College, Ayodele Alaga described a recent media report, alleging that the Provost of the Institution, Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye was involved in "tactical embezzlement" of the institution's fund as nothing but a false accusation, politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his records of achievements in the school.
He said the allegation is to prevent the reappointment of Oladunjoye as the Provost.
He also described as far from the truth, allegation of non-accreditation of some of its courses being run in the institutiins among others.
It could be recalled that a National newspaper had alleged that OSCOHTECH Provost, in connivance with some officials of the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had carried out some questionable financial transaction to the tune of about N60 million through award of access road within the institution as well as purchase of automobiles.
But reacting to the allegation, the institution's PRO explained that OSCOHTECH Provost Dr. Oladunjoye, has never embarked on any financial transaction without following the due process.
"It is imperative to note that Ogun state government has a mechanism for auditing accounts of every tertiary institutions in the state and not for once has there been an eyebrow raised over financial transactions in OSCOHTECH".
"I make bold to state that in the face of financial insufficiency ravaging tertiary institutions in the state, OSCOHTECH has been one of the few institutions that has been making gross payment of salaries and deductions as and when due. This is only possible with prudent management of funds in the college".
"I also make bold to say that there has never been any financial transaction in the college that is devoid of due process and diligence. This is needless to affirm that the college management team is peopled with versatile academics and seasoned administrators with unquestionable repute".
The provost also described the allegation of connivance with officials of the supervising ministry as the "height of professional foolishness for falsely accusing a supervisory ministry populated of seasoned and reputable professionals of misconduct", stressing that the management would seek a legal redress over the allegation.
Giving the nitty-gritty of the allegations, Alaga explained that OSCOHTECH management secured approval for the purchase of the official cars from the appropriate authority "and the money quoted was far above what was utilized".
"No road was constructed but only drainage was constructed to prevent flooding as a result of more waters coming into the college due to the road construction by the Government which leads to diversion of water from adjoining villages into the college and bigger drainage were constructed to accommodate the body of water".
"All our courses, both at the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels have full accreditation from regulatory boards which is the NBTE. Our students have also been participating in the mandatory National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as soon as they graduated.
The PRO further stated that the mandatory years of service before retirement in the academics still stands at 65 years "as approved by the government", thereby laid to rest, allegation of his being over stayed in the service.
"Regarding the allegation of sweeping the report of the visitation panel under the carpet, I want to categorically state that the report of that visitation panel is already in the public domain. So, why whipping up false accusation against officials of the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology?".
"The MIT students were deceived to pay into a Microfinance bank for their SIWES by one Mr Raymond Nwokolo and the college step into it and the students have started getting their money back to pay into government approved account".
He however, fingered some individuals, who failed to submit their results for verification as well as other staff who were not qualified during the credentials screening exercise conducted by the institution recently as responsible for sponsor the fake news about him and the institution.
"Staffs were asked to submit their results for verification and some staff who are not qualified are part of the mischievous group putting up different write up to malign the management and blackmail the me. Majority of them were indicted for certificate falsification, forgery and earning salaries from government establishments".
