Lawrence Anini was born in 1960 and died in 1987. He is from Benin city (present Edo state). Anini was a notorious criminal that started out with car hijacking then proceeded into bus robbery and then bank. His activities cut across cities in different part of the country from the North to the South.
He is believed to be using spiritual powers to evade capture. He reigned terror on people, killed at will that even the head of state (then) general Ibrahim Babangida ordered for a manhunt for Anini and his cohort. He was captured and later executed.
After years of laying low, Anini son Osayi, came out to address some perceptions about his father and the way people talk about Anini children that he is tired.
He went further, that the Movie made about his father by Nollywood were all lies and full of misconceptions. He did promise to tell the real story later in the future. He later said that despite the bad stories about his dad, he is still proud of him. Although he is not like him. he went further to correct people on the exact pronunciation of their family name.
