Scores of Youths and Elders from Agura, a town in Ogun State, last wednesday blocked roads leading to the entire community, chanting war tunes.
The people, findings revealed, were protesting and expressing their discomfiture over negative happenings in the area, occasioned by the non occupation of the royal stool in the town, years after the throne became vacant.
The protesters moved freely in the town, calling for the head of one of them,Prince Yemi Oyejobi who had earlier been chosen by the kingmakers to occupy the stool of Alagura of Agura, years back , but rejected the offer.
It was gathered that Prince Oyejobi rejected to be crowned traditional ruler in his hometown because of the rituals attached to the ascension of the town's royal stool.
The protesters caused gridlock in the town while innocent traders were disallowed from displaying their wares by some miscreants who hijacked the exercise.
No fewer than six vehicles were said to have been destroyed by the youths, who carried placards, which read ,among others,"Prince Yemi Oyejobi must be brought to us,to occupy his stool,We need Yemi dead or alive to help us in our town."His non challant attitude to our suffering must end, now"
The chief Priest and head of kingmakers in the town, Chief Oluwole Adeniyi, later calmed tensed nerves as he condemned Prime Oyejobi for his alleged uncooperative behaviour, noting "We shall ball go out in our large numbers to force him back home"
He said a sum of N1 million naira would be given to whoever gave them an insight into how Prince Yemi Oyejobi, could be trailed and brought back to Agura, for the traditional rituals, attached to the throne.
"Birds are no longer crying like birds again in our community while animals are no longer crying like animals, because of the defiance of just one of us." the chief Priest added.
"I want to enjoin all youths in our town to assist in fishing out Yemi Oyejobi and ensure that he is forcibly brought back to our great community, so that he can do rituals, expected of him and get crowned." he said further.
