Chairman Managing Director of Praise God bakery and Assistant Sectary of the Baker’s Association Ilaro, Kehinde Awotona has congratuted the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba kehinde OLUGBENLE on his recent victory at the Ogun State High Court, Sagamu,, delivered by Justice Ola Owodunni on Friday, 16th December 2021 as the right occupier of the Olu of Ilaro throne..
Awotona described the verdict as one that gives assurance and as well make many people to further have confidence in the Judicial System of Nigeria.
In 2012, Afolabi Dada took Ogun State Government, Oba Olugbenle, Five king Makers Secretary to the Yewa South Local Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs to court for not following due process before crowning Oba OLUGBENLE as the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland.
In the suit number HCL/6/2012 instituted , Afolabi Dada said he was sidelined during the process of the selection for the eligible contestants for the throne and that the Kingmakers did not follow due process before the emergence of the Monarch as traditional ruler of Ilaro.
The court dismissed the case filed by Dada, one of the candidates for the Ilaro traditional stool, on the grounds that he did not follow due process.
Justice Owoduni ruled that Dada violated Section 23 of the Chief Law of Ogun State by not making a complaint about the selection process to the necessary authorities within 21 days after the activities took place.
The judge stressed that there were precedent conditions that must be followed before a chieftaincy matter could be brought before the court.
“The claimant did not have any locus standi to institute this suit. Having failed to establish this case, there are discrepancies in the evidence of the claimant. There was no evidence that he was sidelined in the selection process.
Also,i Awotona Kehinde felicitated With the Oniwoye of Iwoye Yewa Oba Makinde Ololade Buhari on the Monarch’s first year Coronation Anniversary, held on the 11th of December,2021.
” I enjoin our revered monarch not to forget the promises made during the coronation to strive and bring progress and development to the town and as well foster Peace and harmony among the youth, elders, indigenes and non-indigenes based in Iwoye Yewa.”
Awotona, whio also congratulated all the new chiefs installed by Oba Ololade Buhari , implored the newly installed chiefs and the old ones to be in unity,and support the monarch so as to enaure growth and development of the town.
