The Ogun State chapter of National Rescue Mission has warned those parading themselves as the Executive of the Party to desist from the act, saying that Prince Yemi Alli led Executive remain the only authentic leaders of the Party in Ogun State.
NRM in a release signed by the trio of the Chairman, Prince Alli Adeoye Adeyemi, the Secretary, Comrade Surajudeen Momoh and the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Salami Taiwo, warned Party members and the general public to be wary of the impostors, referring to them as dupes
"Our attention at the National Rescue Movement Ogun state has been drawn to the speculation flying around in some parts of Ogun state especially the state capital, Abeokuta, of reports of certain individuals claiming the position of the state chairmanship of the party.
"The unidentified individual is reported to be holding meetings with some groups of people promising them the party tickets into various positions in the forthcoming elections in the state in 2023.
The statement added that the "individual is only out to dupe and swindle unsuspecting members of the public who believe in the ideology and principle of National Rescue Movement towards clinching different political positions at different levels in the state in the coming 2023 general elections.
"To us, this is a criminal act of impersonation which is punishable under the law.
"In responding to this information from us at NRM, it is important for the general public to know that the authentic State Chairman of the National Rescue Movement in Ogun state is Hon. Prince Alli Adeoye Adeyemi. He is the only recognized state chairman of the party in Ogun state with his letter of appointment issued and signed directly from the national organ of the party led by the National Chairman, Hon. (Amb) Isaac Chigozie Ude.
"Apart from the appointment letter which affirmed Hon. Prince Yemi Alli as the only and authentic State Chairman of the party, the national leadership of NRM on the 20th of May, 2022 also issued an introductory letter to Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC and security agencies in Ogun state formally introducing Prince Yemi Alli to them as the State Chairman of the party. These are verifiable claims from the above national bodies.
NRM then urged "anyone behind this criminal act to immediately desist or have himself to blame. This press release is to notify the general public and anyone who might have interfaced with anyone other than Hon. Prince Yemi Alli in the past in the name of NRM to retrace their steps and contact the authentic State Chairman henceforth. Also, to forewarn anyone who intend to join NRM or has something to do with the party to be careful of impersonator by coming directly to the lawfully recognised state chairman, Hon. Prince Alli Adeoye Adeyemi.
It also called on "security agencies to take decisive measures of criminality on any individual found wanting in this act of impersonation. Such individual is only out to cause political tension and crises capable of intruding the peaceful political atmosphere in the state.
"We hereby distance ourselves and our party from any activity of anyone or group other than Prince Yemi Alli led state executive of NRM. We remain committed to the ideologies and principles of our great party and this we are not compromising or allowing anyone whatsoever to do under any guise.
