There has been heightened tension in Abeokuta South local government over the defection of Hon. Jooda James Akintayo to the People's Democratic Party.
Hon. Jooda was accused of inter-party activities over his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the People's Democratic Party.
Hon. Jooda is the consultant on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment to Abeokuta South Local Government in Ogun State. One of the party stalwarts in the Local Government who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity demanded that Hon. Jooda should as a matter of urgency resign his appointment who he holds under the umbrella of the All Peoples' Congress since he has defected to the opposition People's Democratic Party.
He accused Hon. Jooda of biting the fingers that fed him by abandoning the All Progressives Congress at a crucial time when his wealth of experience is needed in winning the forth coming election over trivial matter.
In the mean time, Hon. Jooda has raised an alarm over threats to his life and that of his family over an attack by suspected political hoodlums on his residence in the early hours of Monday, 1st of August, 2022.
Hon. Jooda disclosed this in a WhatsApp message he made available to our correspondent early hours of Monday.
He claimed that the perpetrators of the evil invaded his residence in search of him while severely battered his domestic staff and destroyed his properties.
He further said a petition is underway to the state police commissioner over threats to his life.
When asked about his safety and whereabout, he declined to mention his whereabout but, made it abundantly clear that he is hale and hearty.
