The police in Oyo State have arrested a 20-year old man, Kolade Tosin, for raping and killing a girl, Ifeoluwa Apanpa, at a new generation church in Olodo area of Ibadan.
Parading the suspect, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, said operatives at the Iyana-Offa Division were intimated about the disappearance of Ifeoluwa, a 17-year- old girl, who according to reports, left for church at about 1600hrs and did not return home.
Adebowale said, “A search party was organised to know what caused her disappearance. While this was ongoing a call was placed to the parents of the girl with the caller stating clearly that she had been abducted.”
He further said preliminary investigation revealed that the corpse of the girl was found beside a Bible school at Olodo area with a bloody genitalia and other signs of struggling.
Revealing how he killed the victim, the suspect said after he raped her, he strangulated her for giving him wrong password to her phone.
The suspect said, “On 17th September, 2022, I went back home around 1pm from work because we didn’t have work that day. We were just sleeping in the shop. I told my boss that I wanted to go and ease myself. He said I shouldn’t stay long.
“When I got home, I took the key of our church, because my mum is the cleaner of the church, and went to the church. I packed all the chairs in the church together. I already knew the time Ifeoluwa would pass through our church to her own church. She eventually came by and I asked her to assist me to carry some of the chairs.
“I then took out a knife from my pocket and told her not to shout. I wanted to attack her to collect her phone but she dragged the knife with me and the knife fell down. She also fell down and hit her head. She was weak and I raped her. I took her phone and requested her password. She gave me a wrong password. When I discovered that, I strangled her to death.”
