MFM Region 8, Asero Abeokuta holds Sports Competition, harps on spiritual, physical fitness

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Youth Region 8, Asero Abeokuta as part of its    policy of engaging youths in meaningful activities and reduce crime in the society organised sports competition among the youths in the region.

The sports competition which was a week programme, climaxed over the weekend with the playing of the final football competition between two teams who were able to make it to the final.



Part of the competition were according to the Overseer, Youth region, Pastor Salami includes, Badminton, Relay Race, Table Tennis, Football and others.

Pastor Olakunle Salami while speaking to Journalists at the sideline of the final of the football competition held at Muda Lawal stadium, Abeokuta between Ibara Team and FCE Team said the theme of the competition is "Salvation is Free", revealing that the preparation for the competition started about three months ago with the aim of engaging the youths, most expecially, students who had been idle due to the recent ASUU strike.

He said Eight teams across the region participated, they are Sabo, Olomore, Kuto, FCE, Ibara and Asero and the colourful events were used to bring out the talents among the youths.

"It is to bring together all youths in Abeokuta mega axis and to encourage talents among them to be discovered.

It is also used to commemorate the 13th year anniversary of the region, the competition started on Sunday with various games include badminton, table tennis, relay race, and others.

Pastor Salami hopes to sustain the competition, he hopes to bring it forward before the council of Overseers and ensure that the competition continue to engage youths positively.

Also, the Ibara Regional Overseer, Pastor Yemisi Akinsola said the Church will continue to uphold spiritual excellence of youths while also working on their daily fitness.

He said the competition is purely meant for youths in the Church so as to continue to watch their physical fitness as well as spiritual well being.

At the football final held on Saturday, FCE team beat Ibara team on penalty shootout, while Asero team went home with bronze.
