The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors Ogun State Chapter has promised to cooperate with the State government on survey land-related programmes without jeopardizing the rights of Surveyors to their commensurate remunerations.
This was disclosed by the new chairman of the Association, Surv. Ademola Adebowale at the Investiture and swearing-in of Executives of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS)/ Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Present at the event included the President, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors and other eminent personalities.
Surv. Adebowale who just completed his first tenure for another tenure promised his members that his administration will make sure that the ethics of the survey profession are not jeopardized by monitoring the members.
While highlighting all the plans that his administration has and the relevance of Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS), he said "CORS provides uniform reference datum for all surveys carried out in the state thereby ending the inconsistent survey that overlaps adjoining boundaries.

Support the provision of precision navigation, positioning, surveying and mapping services e.g Engineering, Telecommunication, Transportation, Urban design and development, Environment Management and so on"
"Deformation monitoring and warning for bridge, skyscrapers, earthquake and tremor, weather forecast, disaster prevention and mitigation and air traffic control and so on.
On his part, the new chairman of the Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) Ogun State branch, Surv. Pst. Adekoya Kayode Samuel promised that his administration will make sure that the ethics of the survey profession are not jeopardized by monitoring the members.
He added that he will not disappoint both the members and stakeholders of the Association and also pledge to serve the Association to the best of his ability.
He highlighted what his administration intended to do for the betterment of the Association, and requested the support of the members so that all those things would be achieved.
"I promise you this afternoon, by the grace of God I will not betray the trust you bestowed on me. I hereby declare my acceptance of this mandate and pledge to serve the Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) to the best of my strength and ability.
"This administration will cooperate with the Ogun State government on the survey and land-related programmes without jeopardizing the rights of Surveyors to their commensurate remunerations.
We will enlighten members of the Association on the need to equip themselves with standard working offices, modern fields and office equipment enough to portray them as professionals. We will monitor all members; especially the newly registered Surveyors in making sure that the ethics of the profession are not jeopardized. More attention will be given to the publicity of our products to continually educate the members of the public on how to identify the qualified and government-approved Surveyors," he said.
"We will cooperate with NIS to adopt a legal approach to ensure compliance of the members of the public to the provision of the law on Topographical survey for different land use in the construction industry. We will ensure that Surveyors enjoy direct patronage on engineering surveys. And the welfare is key to better performance," he added.
Earlier in his keynote speech, Prof. Jide Kufoniyi hinted that Ogun State is leading other states to install Continuous Operating Reference Station adding that this will help in mapping development activities
