The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Isiyaku Usman, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl and dispossessing her of two mobile phones in Darazo Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement released on Monday.
According to Habib, the suspect allegedly lured the victim into an uncompleted building before having unlawful sexual intercourse with her and stealing two Android phones belonging to her.
He said the incident occurred on September 6, 2026, after the victim’s 37-year-old father, a resident of Kari village, Darazo, reported the matter to the police.
He stated, “On the same date at about 0800hrs, the victim was on her way to a neighbouring house with two Android phones of the same make, Techno A31, when one Isiyaku Usman ‘m’, 20 years old, of the same address, lured her into a nearby uncompleted building, robbed her of the phones and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.”
The PPRO said that following the complaint, detectives swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspect in possession of the stolen phones.

He added that the victim and the suspect were immediately taken to Darazo General Hospital for medical examination, while their statements were obtained by the police.
According to him, the suspect voluntarily confessed to committing the offences and remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incident and directed that the case be transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
Habib said the suspect would be charged in court after the completion of the investigation.
The CP reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the movement and safety of their children.
He assured members of the public that the command would ensure that justice was served.
