An answer to a clarion call
It is with a deep sense of duty that I have willingly accepted the clarion call to mount the rostrum on the platform of the ALLIED PEOPLES' MOVEMENT, as their official candidate for the post of SENATE for OGUN WEST Senatorial District in Ogun State.
Prior to taking this drastic step as a last resort, all other in-house avenues were explored by our State Leadership, but they were rebuffed by the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC.
Yet the simple truth of the matter is that our Governorship primary election results were disregarded. We held the primary on 2nd October, 2018, where Hon Adekunle Akinlade emerged as the winner, and yet another aspirant was declared.
We also held peaceful National Assembly and State Assembly primaries on Sunday, 7th October, 2019, but none of the State House of Assembly aspirants that emerged were given tickets, except for an unopposed aspirant from Ijebu Igbo. As a result four out of Nine aspirants were not announced despite emerging as winners at the primaries.
Above all, our main contention is that a position had been reached - during the party Congresses - namely, that Ogun West should be supported to produce the next Governor having been marginalised for 42 years since the creation of Ogun State.
Therefore, it is on principle and as a result of these unjust treatments that we moved as a group, to contest all elective posts under a different political party.
Thus instead of the APC, we are now seeking election on the platform of the APM and we are not in anyway against President Muhammed Buhari. Hence, APM has adopted President Muhammed Buhari as our Presidential Candidate.
Consequently, it is under this new arrangement that I have been offered the slot for the Senate and INEC has accepted my name as the official candidate for the ALLIED PEOPLES' MOVEMENT (APM) for Ogun West Senatorial District.
The line-up below is for the National Assembly elections on the platform of Allied Peoples' Movement (APM) for Ogun West, which comprises of one Senate seat and three House of Representatives seats:
1.) Rt Hon Olusegun B Gbeleyi, former Deputy Speaker - for House of Senate, Ogun West Seat.
2.) Hon Bayo Adeyemi,
former Special Adviser on Education - for Egbado North/Imeko/Afon Federal House of Reps Constituency.
3.) Hon Kolawole Lawal,
former HC Forestry - for Egbado South/Ipokia Federal House of Reps Constituency.
4.) Comrade Rotimi Rahmon, former Chairman Local Govt Service Commission - for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal House of Reps Constituency.
Without any doubt this is a formidable team, with a deep sense of commitment to serve our people better.
May I seize this opportunity to sincerely appreciate all my family members, friends, and associates for their unflinching support since I began my Senatorial aspirations in January, 2018. My appeal to them now is to continue with their valued prayers and financial support to propel our movement to victory.
Thank you and God bless.
Rt Hon Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi,
APM Senatorial Candidate for
Ogun West 2019
