The lingering crisis rocking the Ibarapa Polytechnic Eruwa in Oyo state over the non accreditation of some courses in the Polytechnic has reached its climax with the suspension of the Rector Mr.Iyiola Eyitayo and dissolution of the management of the Polytechnic.
Hundreds of graduates of the School from 2016 were denied being called for the mandatory National Youth Service Scheme due to non accreditation of their courses by the National Board for Techni al Education (NBTE),findings revealed
Other products supposed to be awarded National Diploma were not issued their results due to what the students alleged as mismanagement by the management of the institution under the Rector.
Students who have been on protests on many occasions have petitioned both the state Ministry of Education and other stake holders of the Polytechnic on their predicament.
The protest during the week end led to the sending of the Rector of The Polytechnic on compulsory leave .
The Rector has been directed to step aside while Mr.Peter Adejumo the deputy Rector has been mandated to take over as Acting Rector.
A statement issued later today by the Chairman,Governing Board Board,Mr.Samuel Ogundariji instructed the Rector to stop any withdrawal from the Polytechnics Account.
Messrs Rauf Bello and Deolu Obagun have been mandated to function as acting Bursar and Registrar respectively until further notice.
It was learnt that the directive by the Chairman Governing Council which was in compliance with the law and regulations of the Polytechnic instructed the Rector to hand over all documents of the School to the acting Rector.
The sanction of the Rector and dissolution of the management staff by the Council was applauded by the students of the Polytechnic who complained of frustration by the mismanagement of their programmes which kept them away from graduation and subsequent call to the National service
