The outgoing and incoming governments of APC and PDP in Oyo State are at each others throat over the N30,000 minimum wage recently approved by the National Assembly and signed into law the by the President.
While the Senator Abiola Ajimobi administration continues meeting with the representatives of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),the new and incoming government of Engineer Seyi Makinde warned Ajimobi to be circumspect on the issue.
Ajimobi through Dr.Azeez Olatunde Spokesman of APC said that the organized Labour has for long written to the government for a meeting on the minimum wage.
However, Prince Dotun Oyelade,Spokesman for the Governor elect who smelt rat warned Ajimobi against any possible sabotage of his administration.
The Governor Elect queried the intention and sincerity of the outgoing government stressing that any plot to set a booboo trap for the new government would fail woefully.
Engineer Makinde alleged that contracts were being indiscriminately awarded by Governor to his friends and political associates wity huge amounts of money paid is questionable circumstances
The Governor Elect assured the organized labour under Comrade Titilola Sobo of a very robust relationship during his tenure adding ,"I am satisfied with
our rapport with the labourlabour during and after the elections and this will be maintained as the new NLC assumes leadership.
The APC on the other hand,believed that the governor elect was crying wolf where there is nothing pointing out that it was the NLC that requested for the meeting on the minimum wage.
Ajimobi through his Spokesman disclosed that the meeting was in response to the directive of the President adding that no sane governor would turn down such instruction.
Spokesman for the Governor blamed a local FM station which it alleged ,misrepresented the whole issue in its reportage..
"Governor Ajimobi has only acted responsibly towards the new Law by the President.The Governor's high sense of fairness and politics without bitterness will not allow him to engage in setting booboo trap for anybody,,he declared.
