The National President of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Owners, Riders and Repairers Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Samsudeen Apelogun has assured that the State chapter election scheduled to take place will be rancour free as it will be conducted in accordance with the constitution of the association.
He stated that anybody or group of persons that attempts to cause violence before, during and after the election will be made to face the full wrath of the Law.
Apelogun gave the assurance on Tuesday while interacting with some stakeholders in Abeokuta.
He assured that "there is no place for violence or hooliganism in Acomoran. We are a law abiding, national body that operates with a constitution.
Government at all levels in this country knows this much and respects same. I have the assurances of all the security agencies that they will be on top of their game and that is heartwarming”.
He went further, “ Election is a test of popularity. I have directed that equal opportunity be given to all the four aspirants to test their popularity and whoever emerges winner will lead the association in the state. Any other move, contrary to this will not be acceptable and the association will fight such person(s) with every legitimate apparatus of the law because we cannot afford to set the state on fire over the ambition of one person or group of persons
Speaking on the synergy between the Assoviation and the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Apelogun said the two are like Siamese twins who cannot be separated, saying the Ministry has shown enough commitment to the association.
“The Federal Ministry of Transportation has shown enough commitment to us and we are not taking it for granted.
"The association under my leadership will reciprocate by ensuring that our members comply with all safety measures and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of our country”.
He also assures that his association will partner all the security agencies in the country especially the police in its fight against crime, saying that plans are underway for a security oriented workshop for his members.
