Monarchs and prominent Yoruba leaders on Thursday in Ibadan unanimously kicked against the proposal in some quarters to establish radar settlement for the use of cattle breeders in the South Western part of the country.
They also contended that it was a subtle way to colonise the South Western zone stressing that the proposal would amount to open invitation to strangers to enslave them on their own land.
The position of the group was articulated by prominent Obas who included the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi,the representative of the Ooni of Ife ,Olugbon of Orile Igbon,Oba Francis Alao,Chieftain of Afenifere,Chief Ayo Adebanjo Prof Banji Akintoye the guest Speaker ,Ambassador Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu Chief (Mrs.)Bola Doherty ,Otunba Gani Adams the Aare Ona kakanfon of Yoruba land among others.
It was during the gathering of Yoruba leaders and the presentation of the Book, Awo,the biography of Chief Obafemi Awolowo which was translated into Yoruba language by the management of Alaroye Newspaper led by the publisher, Chief Alao Adedayo.
Professor Akintoye,a renowned historian commended Chief Adedayo,the publisher of Alaroye Newspaper for the ,initiative which brought the stakeholders together pointing out that those plotting to destroy the Yoruba land were day dreaming.
"If some people are plotting to destroy our land,maim and kill our people on our own land using different strategies ,we have the power to expunge them from our land, Akintoye said.
Chief Adebanjo, a chieftain of Afenifere declared that under no condition should People in the South West allow cattle colony in this zone adding that any governor who signed any document to that effect should be identified as enemies of the Yoruba race.
He alleged that besides Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State,other governors here were not sincere in their professed commitment to the security of their people from criminals masquerading under cattle breeders.
Adebanjo said that it was wicked to claim to be cattle breeders and resorted to kidnapping of innocent people on theirs own land while some of them were armed with ammunitions raping women and vandalizing their farm produce.
Yinka Odumakin in his address, posited that any governor seen supporting the cattle colony in the South West should be tagged the enemies of their people and should be paid back by their people at the appropriate time.
Otunba Gani Adams who is the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland warned that no governor in the Yorubaland should support giving cattle colony to the Fulani adding that the havoc being wrecked on the people here have made them different from the old Fulani who were living symbiotically with their hosts.
