Two people including a five year old girl and a security guard were killed in Oye Ekiti during a bank robbery on Thursday afternoon
The deceased were said to be hit by bullet shot by criminals while attempting to flee the scene
Also police patrol vehicle which was hijacked and use to blocked the highway was set ablaze after the operation
A branch of the United Bank for Africa UBA was robbed by robbers and an undisclosed amount of money was carted away
An eye witness told our reporter that the robbers came in around 3.pm and their operation lasted for about 30 mins
A students who spoke with our reporter said” when they came they shot severally and we all scampered for safety.
Ekiti state police command’s Public Relations Officers Mr Caleb Ikechukwu who confirmed the incident said the robbers gained entrance through the use of dynamites.
He added that operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and combined 33 police mobile force (PMF) are already trailing the armed robber and information at our disposal is that they escaped through the bush path.
Ikechukwu however promised to give further details as soon as possible
