City Boy Movement hails members’ appointment into APC campaign council

The City Boy Movement has welcomed the appointment of several of its leaders, stakeholders and members to the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said the appointments span its Co-Patrons, Governing Board, National Working Committee, Deputy Directors-General and grassroots leadership.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, on Saturday, the movement said the appointments reflected the broad representation of its members in the Council.

It named Ayodele Olawande, a co-patron of the movement, director of the council’s Directorate of Youth Mobilisation. Its Director-General, Francis Shoga, was appointed Secretary II of the Directorate of Support Group Mobilisation.

The movement added that its Deputy Director-General for Media, Communications, and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, was named to the Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications.

It said other leaders, stakeholders, and members drawn from its national, zonal, state and local government structures had also been appointed to various positions in the Council.

Reacting, Shoga described the appointments as a significant development for the movement and an opportunity for its members to contribute more directly to the APC’s campaign preparations.

He said, “These appointments are significant for the City Boy Movement and the many individuals who have committed their time, energy and resources to building and strengthening our structures across Nigeria.

“We appreciate the confidence reposed in our members and congratulate everyone entrusted with these responsibilities. The appointments reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and contributions of individuals who have helped sustain the movement.”

Describing the movement as a platform that brings together Tinubu’s supporters across political and social divides, Shoga said, “We remain committed to working constructively with the APC, the Presidential Campaign Council, and other support groups towards our shared objectives.”

Also speaking, Ogra said the appointments underscored the importance of sustained grassroots engagement and the collective efforts of members who had built the movement’s nationwide presence.

He said, “Behind the growth of the City Boy Movement are dedicated individuals who have invested their time, resources, and personal effort in building relationships, mobilising communities and strengthening our structures across the country. It is encouraging to see many of these individuals entrusted with responsibilities within the Presidential Campaign Council.

“These appointments also come with responsibilities. As we take on our respective roles, our focus must remain on effective coordination, responsible communication, and constructive collaboration with the APC and other stakeholders. We are committed to bringing our organisational experience and grassroots networks to bear in the collective effort ahead.”

The movement congratulated the leadership and members of the newly inaugurated council. It also thanked Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in its appointees.

It reaffirmed its support for Tinubu and its commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda. It added that it was ready to contribute its nationwide networks, grassroots experience, and organisational capacity to the collective efforts ahead of the elections.
